The software is available for installation on Windows 10 operating system, but it's nowhere mentioned about the Chrome or HTML5 support. I've also checked the Plugins section on the same website for something related to this and nothing was found which could also mean one thing: the software doesn't support Chrome browser or the HTML5 feature.
I have some AVI files that contain PCM audio. Will Quintessential Media Player play these files?

According to the system requirements and features page, these are the file formats supported by the application:
Supports a wide variety of popular audio and video file types, including mp3, mp3PRO, Ogg Vorbis, WMA , CD audio, ASX, AU, CDA, WMA, AVI, ASF, MPEG, MPG, M1V, M2V, OGG, WMV, M3U, M3U8, PLS, WAX, WMX, WVX
As you can see, it supports AVI and quite possibly the PCM audio. You can download the application through the application's page at Software Informer: here.
After successfully using QMP for some time I suddenly get the error message "QMP does not function anymore. Windows could search for a solution of the problem online". Clicking this message does not do anything. Below there are the problem details.
Inserting a new music CD starts the Gracenote plug in and produces the tags. Trying to rip the CD produces the error message from above. Several removals and new installations of QMP did not cure the problem. What could I do?

As I can see from the message above, the error is caused by the Gracenote module. Unfortunately, this could be diagnosed in 2 ways:
Send an email to the developer with the error above and wait for a response regarding further actions. Tip: Use the built-in Help > About to obtain contact details.
Completely remove the application from your computer and then re-install the latest version. If the file was corrupted, this is the proper way to fix it.
Can't get the installer to run under Vista. It just sits and access my HDD but never returns an error dialog box or anything else. The file I downloaded is a 650kb 'install.exe' file. What's going on?

It is possible that the file you downloaded is not really the installer but a malware. You can try visiting the Software Informer in order to get a download link to the latest version of this product or try visiting the official website.
Also, I recommend checking your computer for malware using a software like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
